Question

Dual exhaust better then side exit exhaust?

Just wondering what the difference in HP and sound would be. I cant even find side exit exhaust for a six anyway.

I saw one the other day and I laughed.

another crummy thing is if you dont have the side skirts for the side exhaust it will look horrid, along with it scraping over every speed bump imaginable

two things wrong wit hthat first do u think the 2000 cobra r looked bad because it had side exhaust and the same side skirts as our cars. also if a side exhaust systom is done well then there shouldent be any more ishues with scraping then a reguler set up.

yea, it was bad... cool concept, but portrayed poorly

it will hang lower than a standard catback because it has to go UNDER the frame, closer to the ground, whereas the rubbing issues lay.

i basically have the same system as the cobra r (since borla made it) just with different tips. With LTs and HF cats mine sounds awesome. Id love to post a sound clip....but i dont have a video camera. Also Bob, if you change you mipe-pipe to an h-pipe, you can use any GT/cobra exhaust and itll bolt right on. And my system doesnt scrape.....nor do i have clearance issues.

it is all a preference. i would ideally prefer long tubes, no cats, some great-flowing mufflers (like magnaflows - the dyno-proven best performance muffler on the market) and tips turned down before the rear axle

side exhuast is an accident waiting to happen, every guy I know that gets the roush exhaust has had it ripped out at least once, your better off with rear exit, I know a few guys with roush's that even change over to rear exit

I agree with the guys. I took a side view pick of my 07 V6 and using photoshop, I drew up different side exhaust tips. I never could get it to look right. It looks like cheap crap without the side skirts. Now, I took a GT side view and did the same thing. It you cut out the tip notches in the skirt just right, it looks really good. As far as performance though, it should not matter. I am still waiting on an answer in another post, but all of the local muffler shops I have talked to say that on the V6, to go with the X-pipe. They say the H-pipe on the V6 does not sound near as good. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I am a computer geek, not a gear head.

h-pipe sounds 1000 time better on a v6 than an x-pipe, x-pipe is way to raspy IMO on a GT the x-pipe is the way to go, but on the even firing v6 the h-pipe evens out the exhaust flow more efficiently and settles the idle to give a nice low growl

hmmmm... Then how come the dual exhaust kit from Ford racing is an x-pipe package? Just curious.

Exhaust is all preference based. some ppl like side exhaust some like straight over axle, and some like dumps. Put what exhaust you think will look good. btw greenfaleen.....i know yur talkin about the roush system....but i dont have any clearance issues with my side exhaust.

it is just easier for them to fashion an x-pipe since it is already in the computer for the gt they just had to do some tweaks to produce it for the v6 other than designing a whole new system, ford racing isn't always going to the best performance for our cars.

yeah I know some custom jobs that worked fine, but the L-pipe from the muffler on the roush kit hangs real low.
