will 275/50/17 fit on a 17x9 rim

I have a legend lime 2005 v6 - " Kryptonite " - that I want to mod more and more so first before i get under the hood - which i will need help with also later on - my first question on here is.......

will 275/50/17's fit on a 17x9 rim ? or do i need a 17 x 8 or 17x 10 rim
im going to get Nitto 450's from discountedwheelwarehouse.com

what should the front rims & wheel = ?
what should the rear rims & wheel = ?

I want to make more of an eleanor / shelby style muscle look vs a ghetto 20 inch banger mobile -where the back sits taller than the front, for a mean look.

first off those tires have shit dry traction and thats a weird tire size. if you got your heaert set on nittos....go with the NT555 and get 275/40/17 in the back w/ 245/45/17 in the front. They will fit on a 17x9 tire and grip very nicely

They may have looked mean, but for a little bit more money you can get alot better of a tire - NT555. I have BFGoodrich GeForce Sports and am going on my 2years with them. Good traction, good tread life, and relatively inexpensive.

i run the tire size he just recommend exactly front and back and then nitto 555rs
you wont need any better gripping tire unless you use a big shot of nitrous or lots of boost

the NT555R is a drag radial. the NT555 will be perfect unless i misread your comment.

i also saw there
Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z Tire (315/35-17)

they would go on a 17 x 10.5 rim whats your thought on these

also call me stupid - but 275/40 is bigger than 275/45 ?

cuz you said the 275/40 would be the rears and 275/45 are the fronts? can you explain for me - im new to modding

yes sumitomo is junk. 275/40/17 will be wider in the back giving you excellent traction. 245/45/17 the front is a stock 17in tire for a mustang. That way you keep the tire diameter then same and you shouldnt need to recalibrate your speedometer.

awesome

ok so this is what i am getting so far from this thread -

front = 245/45's on 17 x 9 rims
rears = 275/40's on 17 x 9 rims

wheels - nitto 555 - but i am open to sugestion still on these

for rims i was thinking of Shelby Torq-Thrust M

on tirerack.com they have this listed -

Offset: 45mm Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:255/50-17
**Lightweight: 23.0lbs.**

does this mean i cant get 275's on these ...

or should i do the 18" set up they show on tirerack

no.....thats just their recommendation. but 245/45/17 w/ 275/40/17 in rear will be ideal. btw those are nice looking wheels. If you choose to get 18s, the tire sizes will change....so decide on size wheel first.

Mine came with 18's factory. So you don't 'need' to lower the car for any mechanical reasons. But it looks better if it's lowered a bit, and if you lower it properly with proper parts, you get the added bonus of better handling.

opinion

so honest opinion do you think this set up is a better deal

front = 245/45's on 17 x 9 rims
rears = 275/40's on 17 x 9 rims

or the 18's - would the 17's handle better
