After accident can't hear fuel pump

I purchased a rebuildable,2000 . Was hit in drivers front fender lightly, air bags deployed. I have removed fender, but would like for it to run before I go much farther. Turns over good, but I can't hear the fuel pump run. I have checked the fuse, the cut off switch in the trunk. All o.k. I was told to pull codes, no codes. Help!!!!!Please!!!!

On foxes they are under the drivers seat.... I'm not sure if they still are. If not check the fuse box under the hood.

You can get the factory shop manual from Helm publications. It's more expensive but much more detailed. You do have to get all three volumes. The sort of thing you are trying to diagnose is in the emmisions manual I believe.

I found an internet article on this. There is a fuel pump relay, inertia switch, and a fuel pump driver. The driver is regulated by the fuel rail pressure sensor and in effect varies the voltage to the fuel pump to control the pressure. The fuel pump driver is located in the trunk and that would be the place to test for voltage from the relay. I don't know where the relay is. Perhaps in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

I should mention that a malfunction in the PATS system or with the car alarm can induce a deliberate malfunction that prevents starting.

Note my post on "fuel pump problem?"

The fuel pump makes a humming sound for a few seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the run position. A more definitive test is to measure the fuel pressure with a gauge. It is supposed to be around 40-50 psi.

fuel pump

check the shut off swith in the trunk, its a red button by the drivers tailight i beleive, if you trunk still has all the carpeting and upholstry then youll need to take it out, if the buttons up just push it down, push it down to make sure anyway,

shut off switch

thats what the switch is made to do, if you get into a accident its made to stop feeding the engine fuel to cut the risk of fire

I checked the fuel cutoff switch in the trunk,o.k. If it is the PATS system, what do I do? Where is the valve on the fuel rail I can check to see if it has fuel that far? Thanks Everyone.

if its a new edge there is a valve on the fuel rail behind the alternator. but ifu cant hear the pump ur not going to have any fuel there. i have a feeling its the inertia switch in the trunk. go check it again. and if its the pats system your theft light would be flashing like crazy.
