Wheel removal

Here's a dumb question but I was looking at it briefly and don't want to scratch up my old wheels. I just got my new rims and tires in and was going to take my stock rims off and am trying to figure out how to remove my stock centercaps so that I can get to the lugs. I thought you would just put something into the little slit and pop them off but they don't seem to want to come off that way and I don't want to scratch my old wheels up. Here's a picture of center cap that I am trying to remove.

use the tool ford put in your trunk to take the lug nuts off.
It's made to take off the center hub as well.

Thanks. That's what I get for being lazy and not wanting to get that out yet.

ok, calipers cleaned and new wheels on....one more question..i ordered these from american muscle and they mounted and balanced them, but is it normal for them to be overinflated? tires are showing a max psi of 52, but i seem to be getting 71 on my tire pressure gauge...this is of course assuming i'm using the gauge correctly...i'd just let some air out, but if i'm not using the gauge right then i'd be under pressure...guess question would be does 71 lbs on a 52 lbs tire seem like to outrageous of a reading to be correct?

any reason why they would fill them up so much? they also sent me 15 1/2 " lugs and 1 1.25" lug ...so now i have to call them and make them send me a replacement...have a crappy stock lug on one of the wheels now

Let almost all the air out of your tires... take it to a tire shop bright and early tomorrow and have them put it at 30-32 psi...

also note that PSI will change depending on altitude and temperature... if they filled the tires in NY with the out side temperature at 10 degrees then shipped it to you... if they went up in altitude and are in a warm location such as a basement or living room then the pressure will increase cause of heat and altitude...

you can try this with a balloon ... go out side till your shivering... blow up a balloon almost all the way then let it sit in the garage to acclimate to the outside temp then bring it in side and watch how easy it is to pop it
