Cool

3.8 launches

i asked this in the racer's corner, but i figured id get some help over here since my launches w/o posi are prolly a lot different than the gt's

for those of you that are still mostly stock:
how do you launch? slip the clutch or dump it? @ what rpm? what rpm do you powershift at?

I slip the clutch from around ~3000 rpm... at least 2500rpm.

Even with virtually stock power, stock gears, and open diff, I've managed 2.21 60's.

BTW, if you've still got power, you don't want to shift and waste the gearing of the lower gear.

Yeah, if you drop the clutch @ 1700, you'll spin.

I've tried launching from 1700-2000 rpm and it's either spin or bog...

So, I upped the rpm's to 2500-3000, and I just modulate the clutch to eliminate wheelspin, and because of the rpm, the car doesn't bog as badly once the clutch is out... consistent low 2.2 60's w/ stock power, stock gears, and open diff.

Powershifting is when you shift without letting off the gas.
