useful guages


so im getting a 2 guage pillar, mostly just cuz they look cool lol, but asides from that what would be the two most useful guages to get? i plan on keeping my car NA so boost is out but what about air fuel ratio and egt?

Lets see 80% of the people are going to come in and say "don't get gauges unless you have a real reason it looks ricey"

A/F gauge , a real one is gonna cost you about 300$ its called a wideband 02 sensor.
Oil pressure would be a good one also.

its a temp gauge
the wideband its like $300 for a GOOD DEAL
usually $400-500new

umm i guess oil pressure
you dont need it..
fuel pressure
you'll never need to look at it looking at your sig

yeah, i would like to start buying stuff for the engine and such but my dads all big into not modding it... i dono why... ive just stopped asking lol. ive decided to work on the appearence untill the engine dies then grab the 351 out of the beater truck in the garage and rebuild that...

my dad did the same thing...every bolt on i put in he'd say im wasting my time
i bought the turbo
he said
"you can put it in, im telling you now im not gonna help you"
when i finished with 3.6psi one of my first test runs(no tune!) qouted from him
"holy shit!"

lol sweet!, yeah im still working on the "you dont need a fast car" card... its gay... not to mention ill be 19 in march. but apparently him buying a 440 challenger for his 18th birthday was ok. o.O go figure

Why do you think people buy gauges?
A.) They need them
B.) The cluster gauges for the most part aren't accurate

oil pressure goes from i think 35psi to like 60psi
all with you flooring it or idle

its temp, it just sucks

hmmmmm idk cuz the water temp does that but the oil one just jumps to the middle as soon as the car starts then stays there.... im gonna go look at the owners manual. see what it says

yeah the owners manual says oil pressure... this is the small guage in the bottom right, i dono if there was any confusion about that.

i got 3 gauges, fuel pressure, vacuum, and air/fuel ratio, no i dont need them but they look cool and hey if any of those gauges ever read wrong then at least ill have an idea of where to look for a problem...and when i do start modding they will come in handy

same with mine. i think there more for telling you if something has gone terrible wrong more then giving you a detailed accurate readout.

my dad gave me the" you going to be the only one with a car that has more money in mods then what its worth" but i informed him or your car chris and a few others... but he doesnt have much room to talk. he had a built 67 camaro when he was in high school and after high school that he used to street race.

I think we've all gotten that don't mod story from our dads....

I got it for a while until two of my uncles were talking to him about his 55chevy, and his road runner, and him racin my uncles mach 1 and people hitting poles... after that I never got anything other than just stay alive
