tranny


is the 5 speed in a 97 v6 a t-5 if not could you tell me what it is and if it will hold up to the 5.0 thanks

definitely a T-5. it wont last long if you slam gears

is there anything i can do to make stronger or should i try to find a better tranny

it should be fine, the 5.0 doesnt have that much more HP then your running now. i believe they are around 250 HP or so, like i said in the other thread, it will hold up, put some gears and a t-loc in. or you could swap in an 8.8 but no need if your going to keep the motor stock

you wont. unless your going to be modding the 5.0 the 7.5 should be fine. if your really worried about it then just find a 8.8 in a junkyaed from a GT, its will bolt right up

will i rip any of the gears out of the tansmission thats the only other thing i'm worried about

i believe with the 5.0 you will need a different tranny. i read somewhere that the belhousing is different and something elso too, so you would need a new tranny i believe

i knew the bellhousing was diffent but i thiught everything else was good

i have heard something else is different. flywheel maybe? i know there is 1 or 2 other things different. let me see if i can find the thread

the 5.0 carb motor will deffinitly not brake the tranny
not unless you build it

437rwhp and 402rwtq through a V6 on a stock bottom end
