Exhaust

What are the best mufflers for a 2004 3.8 mustang? I have looked at the flowmaster 40 series, but didn't know if there are any better out there.

I just got the roush side exhaust with magnaflow mufflers i'll keep you in touch i alrdy had my cats removed just for fun so yeah. but yeah flowmaster 40's is all i hear people ranting about so far just do true duals though caus eyou don;t have some weird problem of evening out exhaust like a v8 does so you dont need a Y X or H pipe techincally

it all depends how much do u wanna spend on it. If your budget is around 500 dollars u can get a nice one that generates decent horse power and also gives it a good sound.
For my V6 i put MAC (my budget was $300) it sounds much better than stock now.
for GT I would recomend STEEDA. they are pretty good.

Flowmaster, and magnaflow are the favorite cat back exhaust systems among v6 guys. While magnaflow will make a couple extra horses; flowmaster sounds nicer. So if your more powerhungry go with magnaflow, but if your more sound orientated go with flowmaster. Yea, the power differences are small, but in my mind power is power. More on what Scubasteve was saying. A v6 since it is an even firing engine does not need a crossover midpipe like v8 since there is always an equalization of gasses in the v6. So you can run true duals, but most people will either get a x-pipe or h-pipe. X is louder at WOT, but for the v6 the v6 has no tone just noise at higher rpms. The h-pipe sounds better at idle and between 1,500-2,500 rpms. I personally would suggest the h-pipe. There are no power differences between the two.
