gears rpms


Discussing gears rpms in the V6 Mustangs Forum. I was wondering how many rpms you would be running with 3.73's doing ...

gears rpms

I was wondering how many rpms you would be running with 3.73's doing 80mph?

between stock and 3k. probably around 2700. i run 3k rpms on the dot with 4.10s at 80 with stock internal 4r70w

that doesnt show the rpm at 80mph. it shows the max speed for each gear. the overdrive gear for the 5-speed is very close to the overdrive gear for the 4-speed auto (.72)

right now at 80 i run 2100 rpms....so i was just wondering how much it would affect my gas mileage....it looks like it wont much

i have all the bolt ons and 4.10s and still get 20mpg. you will lose a couple mpg, but how much really depends on your driving style. a lot of guys drive their cars like they stole it after getting a mod

i think you mean 70mph

kool chart 5speed has shorter gears in 2nd and 3rd

also those mph cant be right
140mph in 4th! the highest ive taken 4th is 125mph about thats the highest i cant take it with out SERIOUSLY redlining the shit out of the car

those are probably theoretical top speeds. ive done this debate before, but theoretical top speeds don't take effects like road resistance, wind resistance (all kinds of friction and resistance) into formulaic consideration.

you will be fine then. keep in mind, i havent broken 3k rpms in a few months. (college makes you think twice about wasting money). so that 20mpg figure is a very conservative one.
