Shocks and Springs

I just bought some shocks and springs was wondering if anyone can give me a link on how to install them. For shocks and struts I got the Tokico illumina 5 way adjustable with some H&R springs. Should i get a spring compressor or could i manage without it? Any feedback would be nice...

I've taken the springs in and out several times over the last few weeks, and I've yet to use a spring compressor. Not a bad idea, for sure, but not TOTALLY necessary.

Won't have to worry about that on the front anymore, though... just installed coil-overs

If you're putting in lowering springs, the only time you would even use the compressor is taking the stock ones out. If you're dumb enough to be standing in FRONT of the spring when you pop it out, you're probably dumb enough to get hurt with a spring compressor, too.

or if your dumb enough to not use a compressor and risk busting a window in your garage or worse hitting your buddy who is being nice and helping you for the bro rate you probably dont need to be working on a car

you are wrong. i didnt say you needed it to put the spring in. taking the stock spring out without a spring compressor is dangerous and stupid. if that spring comes loose from whatever your holding it with someone could get very hurt or alot of stuff could get damaged. your playing it off like its no big deal, but it is. i would never even think of doing it without a spring comperssor or you could be seriously injured, the dumb thing to do would be to not use the spring compressor. if you did it once without it and nothing happened good for you, but you obviously dont realize what it can do

When you let the a-arm down all the way, there's hardly any potential energy left in the spring, and it just pops out (or even falls out). Then, if you're installing lowering springs, they generally won't even touch both perches at full droop, so there's no danger there.

But don't take my word for it, just look at ALL of the how-to's a linked above... they ALL say just to let the a-arm down and the stock spring will have little to no potential energy left and will either just fall out, or be easily popped out. No broken garage windows or injured buddies.

I'm not saying people SHOULDN'T use a spring compressor, but it's widely accepted that they're unnecessary in this situation.

But again, don't whine to me... Complain about ALL of those How-To's that say the same thing.
