it all depends on the driver, but ima give it to the manual, since he can control his shifts

The one with the better driver. Just because it's an auto doesn't mean it's point & shoot. The car still has to be launched properly.

That doesn't really work.

If both were the same driver, what if the driver has never driven a 5speed?

If the auto is built and the manual driver can shift good The auto stands a pretty damn good chance because the auto is a faster more precise shift

If you're talking stock 94-04 V6's, the 5-speed will be faster assuming equal relative driving skill.

the manual would win if he is a good shifter n runs the car to its max on what it can do the auto don't have a chance, but its hard to be perfect with a manual.

oh oh you should change the situation...

what if OMZ was driving two cars straight from the factory, 10 miles on each... one was auto and the other stick... and he made three passes with each... track temps the same, tire temps, engine temps... same weight except the difference in the tranny...

which one would win? now im not that bad at driving a stick... been doing it for 4 years so i have a slight idea on how to do it

Don't automatic transmissions have less power going to the wheels due to parasitic losses?

Manual transmission cars have roughly 15% loss, autos around 20%.

So...wouldn't that also have an effect on the outcome?

Yes, that, among other reasons, is why all else being equal, a 5-speed 94-04 V6 is faster in the 1/4-mile than an auto, stock vs. stock.

1. Auto has more parasitic loss
2. Auto weighs more
3. Auto has 4 gears rather than 5
4. Auto can't launch from as high an rpm

... Just to name a few.

Of course, this is stock vs. stock. Mods can obviously make a big difference.
