yes there is a hammer shifter for his year, and shift kit, plus shifter = fast shifting than a manual

shift kit for a Auto or Manual?
and im starting wed trannys
so i wont be a tranny king quite yet
im still debating on my tranny

personally i think everyone on this site heard 1 person recommend the same 2 mods everyone keeps repeating and just passing it on and dont know what they're saying

in all REALITY i say shift kits for an auto is deffinitly a must. but also depends on your future power you plan on making.
why throw money in an auto that hasnt been maintained
like this
if your auto has closed to or over 100k miles and you plan on installing a J-mod thats probably not the best idea
1 you'll change your tranny fluid.
now thats not a bad thing
if you've changed it before! if you havent and that fluid is that old then yea your looking at a make or literally BREAK option
since the fluid is so old the dirt grime and break down from the fluid has grown and plugged possibly a seal or 2. so when you change the fluid that new fluid is going to sit then whe it runs it'll break that all down. now im sure you know what happens when a plugged seal thats plugged by dirt is unplugged

you get leaks and break down. it'll be quick. like moving out of your driveway quick.
Theres a Van in our schools shop. now LUCKILY its the schools and not someones. well are teacher left for the day that car read abotu 130kmiles the high school class changed the fluid. started the car and its leaks and needs a new tranny now

so j-mod on an old tranny not the smartest idea. unless your fluid has been changed. 80k miles is risky but you might get away...its worse on auto since schedule maintence is earlier then a manual which means they need extra treatment

shifter and shift kits
anything that'll adjust or help quicken shifts and adjust the shift points past the rev limiter (SCT XCAL2) is a good idea
a j-mod though would be the best mod for any Auto V6
J made a 11.1 pass on a auto tranny with a J-mod and so did Justin at VMP

i made 13.1 pass best and my t5 crapped out later after a 13.7 pass

most people will easily agree
a bone stock 5speed v6 vs a bone stock auto v6
as long as the guy int he 5speed can drive
the 5speed will win
but with a j-mod and shift kit or adjusted shift points i'd call that a tough match and probably give to the guy in the auto

only cause the 20% driveterrain loss vs the 10-15% loss from the manual

by the 20% and 10-15% i mean power from the engine to the wheels
and at the same time if the 5speed got an aluminum flywheel and driveshaft
that makes it an even harder race to judge because the 5speed undoubtably is making more power to the wheels

sorry i know thats alot

in general
anything to help adjust shift points, and quicker and firmer shifts is deffinitly a good investment on any automatic transmission owners end(you if you have one)

a j-mod is also a big +1

and like chris said if your getting up there in the miles a tranny rebuild (having the shift kit put in during the process) probably isnt a bad idea or talking for automatics if your planning on big power a lentech AODE with upgraded stall can be bought for about a grand and it will shift harder and faster than any shift kit

true depending how big the power
as far stock a built AODE with just coverter and j-mod will last longer then the engine

although J made a 11.1 second pass his tranny was also slippinh

yeah but if you at the 150k mile point and you build your engine and do FI just save up enough to get the tranny too or well you know what can happen

but i have no wear near a high mileage just over 46,000 on a 2002

yeah youd be fine with a valve body and a shifter, you probably dont need a torque converter unless you see a lot of track time
