Will long tube headers work on a mac y pipe exhaust set-up? Thanks

no, you need a short mid pipe. a short off road H or X (sold for the GT and some for the V6) will bolt right up. if the Y pipe is stock length, the answer is no.

p.s. you can fabricate the Y-pipe catback to work, but you need to cut the midpipe a good bit. also, why run a Y crossover with long tubes. kind of defeats the flow advantage

it will work but u need a shorty mid pipe and some tubing bent so that the mid pipe meats up the the cat back.

but nobody makes a short Y pipe... so it would take cutting the factory Y pipe or refabricating the midpipe and the cat back both...

you would either have to have an H pipe custom fabricated it but one from mac

that reminds me of a guy that had like a 96 black v6 and put longtubes on it but left the stock exhaust
he wanted to race for pinks, i think, i should have i smoked his ass cause he thought he was the shit with those longtubes
mustang guys can be ricers to and do pointless upgrades without all the other supporting mods....

i have that same kit the y just unblots
but he will need to have some fab work to get any mid pipe to mach up to the cat back.

ok, cuse im thinking of custom fabing up a set of l/t's with a 1 3/4 down tubes and have them meat up right at my cat,

so are you guys saying that i should get a new exhaust or just throw some shorty headers on mine now i know it does not do much but i have cracks in the ones that i have now?

it would be worth it to fabricate a way to make long tubes work (i.e. new mid pipe and fabricate the cat back to fit)

get l/t's and a new mid pipe, and have pipeing made up so it maches up to the cat back, if u have the mony otherwize just replace the stock one with a stock one.
wich one is craked because i have my stock driver side manifold if u want.

AB, im gana keep my cat wear it is and just have the calecter on the l/t's meet up with the mid pipe right there at the cat

i like mac
and it is not very much work to get the mide pipe to meat ur cat back, once u unbolt ur y pipe, u can see in the pic i posted the shineast looking pipe is all i hade to ad to get it to work.
