Shredded cam gear, what caused it?

i didnt buy it from percision, i got it out of an f150.
and i really need to get this engine back together but must find the problem

You might look at this link.

REBUILDING THE FORD 3

It talks about the variations in parts between the different model years. There are several variations on the cam.

I currently have my 99 V6 apart and I notice there is a spacer at the front of the cam. I think you replaced the cam. Is it possible you forgot to transfer that spacer?
