Is the noise continuous or just when the engine is cold? If it's only when the engine is cold they might just need cleaning and ATF or seafoam in the oil could fix that. If they are worn or damaged you will need to replace them.

To remove them you need to remove the upper/lower intake manifolds and rocker arms/pushrods.

glad ya like the ride! but yeah its hard telling, that year came out with a lot of options for an engine, its possible it could be either, but if it says 302 on the block then it just might be a 302 lol, you have any pics of it?

Sounds like if it's lifters it needs new ones.

You should measure the oil pressure with a gauge to be sure it's within specs. The symptoms you describe don't sound like a lifter problem.
