V6 Top Speed


I have a 99 V6 mustang and have that stupid speed limiter on mine. I can get it to about 115 before my limiter kicks in. My question is has anyone w/ a v6 gotten rid of this limiter w/ a tuner and what is the top speed that our 6ers can reach stock?

idk yet, but ppl say it can go as fast til it blows up..but i'd say it'll hit 135 about....my limiter stops it at 5th and 4th gear. 4th at 5000 and 5th at about 3500 give or take not sure...

i can break the speedo in 4th with 4.10s and a 4r70w. not sure how fast it is though, just over 120

Oh yeah forgot that our speedo only goes to 120. So your 'stang can go over 120 atlanticblue99, someone said something about 4.10's will get you to only about 107 or so. And what exactly is a 4R70W, don't really know.

are you sure you are'nt confused with 4.30 gears but even then I couldnt see it only doing 107 but then again if you had smaller wheels and tire lowering the gear ratio even more it could be possible

4r70w is an auto tranny. 3 speed with a 4th gear overdrive. and i have 4.10s and can get to 120 in 4th gear at about 4500 rpms. i redline at 6k rpms

AB you could probably do about 140 when your bouncing around on the redline. That is a Automatic with 4.10's.

A stock geared auto would get about 170 (If you can even get going that fast in a stock six.) The stock auto six will only get to about 135-140 IF you get lucky on a flat road.

A stock geared 5 speed could get to about 210 (once again IF you have the horsepower) But would also top out at about 140.

DO NOT by any means EVER try those kinds of speeds on the streets. Even if you have tires that are rated for that kind of speed. Seriously that is just asking for death if you ask me.

May have to go to a dyno shop and see what top speed I can hit, and just get my horsepower rated and see how it changes when I add on bolt-ons will post results.

drag is going to be way higher when going for an actual top speed on the dyno you dont the aero dynamic problems

That's true but just would like to see what a stock v6 is capable of hitting. I know with drag it would be alot harder, but from the factory would like to see if their homework pays off.

yea I'v seen it to and that it was I am talking about but theres no way the v6 stang is gonna get anywhere near the sppeds the mazda was doin

lol ohh hell no, i think it was goin for 300 and got air lifted at 270...but idk...i cant imagine a rx-7 doing 270...i have to be wrong on that but thats wat i remember..

I think it was doing something like 200+. In a modified mustangs issue a cobra hit I think it was 200+ in a standing mile. From a stand still up to 200+ in ONE MILE, now that's impressive.

idk those lil RX-7s can get crazy espicially with an LS-1 swap or osmething along those lines I think with the ls1 swap they weigh like 2200lbs
