Throttle Body spacers

I have seen some ads about throttle body spacers that claim that by raising the throttle body by an inch it creates a vortex effect which causes better atomization of the air/fuel ratio and i was just wondering if this actually worked and if it was worth the money to buy.

If it does work, what kind of improvements would it do for the engine?

they are useless items, and they will more than likely do more harm to your engine than good, having air spin trough your intakes isnt that good an idea
