Transmissions


okay, I am not one for the transmissions, but what does the 99 3.8 have? is it the 4r70w?

so the auto 3.8 has the same transmission as the 03 auto 4.6?

I was researching my transmission and what I could do to make it stronger, and I didn't know that these two cars had the same one.

ok, well there isent much u can do to make the auto stronger other then building it, wich can be a bit of a time consuming pita.

j-mod valve body
and changing the fluid every 40k miles

if you've waited to long like 80k with out changing it...i probably wouldnt change it

ya those r good things to do, that will make it a better trany, but they won't realy make it any strong (ie. able to andle more power)

car only has 37k on it. haha. i have a donor car with a 4.6 im thinking about mounting, but i dont want to pull that trans and mount it if i dont have to, if mine will fit...

u will need to swap the bell housing

i simple j-mod will allow i to handle a little more
secondly

Everyone has this huge fear of cracking an automatic open

its not as big of a deal as its made to be

i will agry if u r talking j mod/shift kit wize
but rebuilding is a whole nother stroy, it isent much harder then a manual but even rebuilding those is a pita.

The bell housing and input shafts are different and the electrical hook ups might be off too
