powerchips/superchips/computer chips...questions

It's not a mustang, but I have a 95 4.0 V6 in my ranger. I was wondering what you V6 guys think about chips... I'd like to add alil geddyup to my ranger to catch up with its suspension mods lemme know

Chips are always a good thing to have. They help with the overall tuning of the vehicle for a pretty good price.

Is it an auto? If so, the chip is even more beneficial because you get to adjust your shift points which is a very good thing.

It is a very basic and very helpful mod for any vehicle.

Exactly. Many of the mustang forums (not naming any names) explicity scream that aftermarket chips are always a waste of money and you should get dyno tuned, and dyno tunes are a waste of money unless you have alot of mods.

It's great to see people with good Mustang sense, and know the benefits for the mods their talking about.

plus, if you get gears and have an auto, a chip or tuner is essential to correct the speedometer quickly and nearly hassle-free

I'd suggest getting an SCT (Superchips). Modular Depot has great prices on chips / tuners (a tuner would probably be easier, and you probably wouldnt need the extra features of a flip chip on that ranger anyways, like 2 step rev limiter etc.)

Dunno if they sell for 6 banger rangers or not though, worth a call as they have good pricing on SCT stuff.

superchips has a large repository of pre-configured tunes for vehicles, so if you don't have anything extreme you can probably settle for a "mail order" tune. something like.... trans shift points, speed limiter removal, electric fan settings, rev limiter, gear and tire sizes if needed, gas octane, modifications for bolt-ons like u/d pullies or CAI.... maybe add 10-12hp more?

<---- Has a reflashed ECU in his 95 V6. Same power as a 99-04 V6 just out of the tune. Chips rock for V6's

what year is your ranger? I have a brand new supperchip programer for a 2004 ford ranger any size engine. I sold my truck and need to sell my chip. I payed over 400 bucks for it. Only used one time and will sell for 200 bucks + shipping (will upgrade to next day air with ups for free) also fits any 2004 ford truck/ suv that uses gas.
