I was looking into getting a new shifter for my 00 v6 and i was just wondering what you guys would suggest? this is a dd and if i can keep the cost low, but i also dont want to get something thats crap. If you guys could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it

Also how hard is it to install urself? If anyone has a set of directions for installation or if you have a link i would appreciate it

I got the steeda tri-ax for my car, I like it quite a bit, but it does transmit a bit of gear noise to the interior of the car. Alot of people have said that B&M is quiter (I think it's B&M, never looked into it though) and does the exact same thing. Short shifters are relatively cheap, you need the part and some hi-temp rtv silicon; thats it.

As for the installation - it is extremely easy. There are a couple write-ups on it, but in all reality you could do it with out one.

pro 5.0 and the tri ax are best

also if you have big plans in the future a firewall quadrant is a good mod

the stock firewall quadrant where the clutch line is going through the fire wall there is a rubber bushing with plasic.
the rubber bushing has some play and an aftermarket one is solid metal with no play
let me see if i can find a picture or place to buy

+1 cable bushings can be the difference between night and day in a shift

Astroperformance.com - Your Manual Drivetrain Specialist

there the first is the replacment for the bushing
the second is the best buy because it decreases the amount you need to press the clutch for it to DIS-engage

personally id go to Promotionpowerterrain.com

they have a better firewall quadrant that wont move the firewall
like the first one threre tends to

note: for now im still using the stock setup and it works fine
but i will be upgrading soon!
its sell worth it

So wat all is included in a jmod for the transmission. I have (i believe) a T5 transmission because when i looked at my sticker in the door panel under TR it had a 5 so i believe that is correct. Anyways, if you guys could let me know wat exactly goes into a jmod i would appreciate since im assuming taht the trans would work much better wtih the short throw AND the jmod even though im not sure wat the jmod is

uhh j-mod is an auto tranny shift kit, it wont work with yours, it makes the auto shift as fast and as hard as you can with a manual (faster really)

no a j-mod is a modified valve body which is what a shift kit is, a j-mod is a style of shiftkit designed by a ford tech named jerry it is a moddified stock valve body but it is a shift kit

all a shift kit does is uppers the presser on the fluid in the tranny causing faster shifts, it also uses stronger parts that can take a little more of a beating from a manual shifter, but a j-mod is just a type of shift kit, like B&M or transgo

for an auto all you need is
xcal2 or tuning device to adjust your shift points
and a Jmod valve body
and or if you'd like a higher stall torque converter
other ways to increase driveline would be aluminum driveshaft and gear ratio which is compatible with both the manual and automatic transmission

for standard manual transmissions
things to modify it are
short throw shifter
firewall quadrant
speed release quadrant
and an aluminum flywheel is a good idea as well

and you can also use an aluminum flywheel and different rear end gear ratios

Lies... the MGW has the most adjustablity on the market... many would argue that its the best... I know people who have had both the MGW and the Tri-ax and they recommend the MGW over the steeda...

you will notice a $30 price difference though

... more lies... wow...

a shift kit and a J mod both modify the valve body... this is correct ... BUT the j mod is a better performing valve body AND the shift kit also includes things like stifer springs and better bearings to increase fluid pressure and shift strength

there is a j-mod valve body and a j-mod up grade a fully j-modded tranny is a full shift kit

gf we were both right i was talking about just a straight j-mod
