Engine Strong Enough Stock?

ive heard the 3.8 essex engine is pretty strong and can handle forced induction without having forged internals. i have a lot of miles on my 96 so i was wondering if i should get new internals and rebuild it with that as well as powerpacks from supersix or if my engine will still be able to hold a lot of hp as is. thanks!

I wouldn't put more than 6 pounds through it.

with a safe tune, you can handle vmp's 8psi kit fine. the 11psi kit is a lot of boost, but it would hold up for a while- dont push that much without forged internals though

The tune is what makes or breaks the boost. You can tune the motor good and get up to 8 PSI through it safely. I just don't like to push the issue and would keep it at 6 PSI so I could beat on it pretty good and not have to worry about it.
