Exaust


Well from what I herd full exaust doesnt pick up so much hp on a v6? Is that true? I went to the local muffler store, they said they would cut off the mid pipe after the cats and Idk what theyd be connecting... prob there own y pipe. But they will connect to dual flowmasters with chrome tips. $300 after instalation. Im not trying to destroy my wallet, will long tubes be worth the money or not?

yea they will, i'd get them with you exhaust, i did the same thing and now im gunna have to change around the whole thing almost. just the exhaust alone on a stock v6 will give you almost nothing for hp gains. the guy that did mine sed i maybe got another hp or 2 out of it. get the long tubes with a H pipe, and mac cats for everything to fit good.
or ask AB.
cuz with the long tubes and exhaust you'll see 20+hp

I can belive that. See I'm not looking for sound I just want the best solid performance. Im doing lsd and 4:10s first. Then I was ganna save up for exaust but I dont want to pay 700 dollars . Any full exhaust system out there not to pricey that gets the job done.

full exhaust is the 2nd best bolt on you can do.

mac long tubes
mac off road short H
magnaflow gt catback is the best performance setup out there.

a muffler shop will not use mandrel bends, will not use stainless steel pipes, and will not make a Y pipe. they will do what is cheapest to fab. which is a true dual or aluminum H pipe. for 300, that will last 5 years before rusting out, especially around alty air and the ocean.

spend the money right the first time or you will soon regret it

cuz with the long tubes and exhaust you'll see 20+hp
I dont think anyone has seen those gains with longtubes on a stock motor. If you are going to get longtubes, give yourself a reason to get them (a.k.a. cam and/or ported heads/intakes).

Throwing longtubes on a stock motor might do more harm than good.

Well, Cams are in store for the future, so I guess long tubes arent that bad if an idea. But is it ok to do cams before exaust?

Well, first and foremost, its not cams. Its cam. Theres only 1.

I would most definatley do exhaust before a cam, it will help it breathe much better. But for exhaust, your stock manifolds are fine. You may see some gains with longtubes with a cam and ported heads, but gains will be minimal without.

Whatd the run the first and second time out? Is it possible that your times improved as a result of your driving improving? Do you have any dyno graphs?

im pretty sure it was the mods mostly...

he actually could hook up with the t-lok, comes into powerband a whole lot earlier with 4.10's, and with full exhaust he got rid of his 4! (i think) restrictive cats in adition to getting rid of the Y pipe. Also bear in mind that his car has 315 rear tires, one of his first mods. This adds a 'bit' of increase in extra traciton when adding a t-lok over when adding a t-lok with stock 205's.

he doesnt have dyno graphs, but logically these mods should have increased his times by as much as he said regardless of ability and he has the slips to "prove" it. This should have been the outcome regardless of driver ability, and I fell that I can atleast speak a little for AB when I say that with these mods he still hasnt experienced their(and his car's) true potential at the track yet.

i doubt an auto on the same tires would improve .5 in the 1/4 with driver skill. it isnt hard to hit the gas from idle and let the car shift on the same tune from the xcal 2.

i went from a 15.9-15.4-14.9. no dyno graphs, and i have no idea what power i make
