Just Installed A Mac CAI

I have a 96 3.8L and i just installed my CAI from MAC but i noticed that the bracket you mount to the fenderwall, didnt have a blue rubber thing on the inside of the opening. isnt it supposed to? Is this going to cause any problems?

you want to allow movement for the pipe through the hole with engine revs. the pass side will move down when revving... but you could run some weather stripping and silicone in the ring, just dont make a seal between the pipe and the hole or you will break the seal when you rev

You can get the weather stripping from a place like advanced auto parts or somewhere like that. The silicone you can just pic up at your local hardware store. Put a bead of silicone on the inside of the weather stripping, and place the weather stripping where you need it on that plate. Make sure you measure and cut the weather stripping first, and test fit it. Silicone is not fun to work with if you mess up.

yea i bet. i just drove it back to college today and the check engine light came on. The CAI was making alot of noise (not the rattling) so now i get to deal with that first.

Well it is going to make noise. It makes a whooshing, whirring, sucking type sound. If your cel came on make sure you have all the sensors in place and you rehooked your maf up.
