power from intake mods

alright so im thinking about getting a halfshafted stock throttle body that has been ported to 65mm along with the vap auto intake spacer and a ported upper intake manifold that has a 65mm inlet. the price for all of these is $500. so what do you guys think? good deal? and what kind of gains would i be looking at? 15hp,10ft/lbs torque? thats what im hoping for anyway.

if youre gonna be porting the upper intake, you should do the same to the lower intake. w/ that and the other stuff i think you could probly see about a 20rwhp gain

you could save money and get more hp out a ported and polished lower w/ a windstar upper instead of a p&p upper

it can fit under the stock hood with some modification

shipping for those parts is usually $18-23 i usually just charge a flat $20 because most of the time its about $19.90..so i charge .10cents in gas
and with gas prices as they are lol no but in all seriousness i charge a flat 20 anywhere in the 48states

im experiementing though with different portings. im taking one intake to a machine shop about 30min away from me and another intake 30 min opposite side then i tried one with harrison

ive heard that different mothods of porting the upper intake will give different results. one person who ported his own actually lost 5hp and gained 5ft/lbs of torque. is this true? cause i dont wanna sacrifice either. and is the ported upper more of a mid range gain or a top end gain?

lol i think i know who that is
anyway it really depends on the setup and how the porting was done

usually a "self porting" will not turn out too good with out practice

im pretty sure you wont lose hp from porting and polishing your intakes

not 100% sure, but i think its more of a mid to upper rpm range thing. not saying it wont help the lower, but itll have a bigger effect as the rpms rise

so youre pretty confident in the person that does your porting? will i see actual gains in horsepower and torque?

Thats correct,
Generally speaking, any port work you perform will increase the total CFM
of intake charge which is most beneficial in helping an engine achieve higher
RPMs. To utilize fully this advantage, you should also install a fatter cam.
