radiator mishap....ASAP HELP

Jademetals 98 started running like shit at idle so i figured we had better head home before it decided not to work but in the process overheated and poured steam so i was forced to pull over. I noticed it was steaming and losing coolant from the left side of the radiator(opposite of the cap).I cant tell exactly where and how big the crack or what not is..we ran to wal mart in my car and got some distilled water, antifreeze, and some radiator sealant...went back and checked it...the overfill tank and radiator was completely empty...filled it up...put the sealant in and got it started to make it the two miles we had left for home...i let it idle like the bottle said and it maintained good temperature and finally quit steaming...i went to take it around the block and it heated as soon as i put it in reverse and it made a grinding noise like the engine was too hot...i immediately parked it and checked...the radiator cap wasnt hot at all so i pulled it off and checked..the coolant level had dropped significantly so i dont think the fluid was making it to the hose going to the thermostat because the leak is under that.as soon as i poured more water into it, it steamed up then dropped down again and pretty much evaporated out of the side....i also noticed it wasnt pulling in any coolant from the overfill tank...sooo....Since i dont know how bad the damage is and were broke...can i try to run more sealant in it or do i have to get a new radiator? You think maybe the cap is bad so its not pressurizing the system properly to pull the coolant over??How hard is it to replace a radiator and where can i get one for a good price? I also think her thermostat was going out but i dont know if that is relavant to this problem...sorry for the long post i just need to figure out since we both have jobs and have school....thanks guys!

those sealents are OK fixes but they clog things up, you need a new radiator and f the crack is as big as it sound only sealant i can think of that would help would be blue devil and its 60 bucks a bottle, but it will fix anything including head gaskets

60 bucks is still cheaper than 200 for a new radiator....plus i think my apartments have a rule on doing auto work out here so i dont even know if i can put the radiator in..but idk if i can take it anywhere cause it sounds like hell when it runs like its not gettin fluid.

go pick up a bottle at autozone stuff is amazing just follow the directions really closely and get a couple extra gallons of coolant

no problem man
JB will weld the cooling channels together so that could be bad, usually works on the plastic parts not the core, but blue devil will seal any of it and it has a money back garente (sp??) so if it doesnt work they will refund you

IDK man...If you have a radiator problem I'd say go ahead and replace it. I know for a fact that a bad radiator can warp your cylinder heads. Then you're looking at over a grand. Better to just go ahead and replace the radiator. Cuz driving around with a bad one can fuck things fast.

The radiators on these cars have an aluminum core with plastic tanks. The plastic tanks tend to crack and I don't think any sealant would fix that. You probably need either a new tank installed or a new radiator.
