painting brake calipers


do i need to bleed the brakes to take the calipers off

+1...however, you don't need to take the calipers off to paint them. Just get the painting kit from pep boys. You just put tape where you don't want paint to get. It's pretty easy. Only problem is you have to wait for the paint to dry before you can drive. However, you'd have to do that anyway.

or the kit from autozone. im pretty sure its a lil cheaper there and its made my Duplicolor whoo!

yea i got the duplicolor one from autozone for 16 $
but i have no idea on how to bleed them
and do i need brake fluid afterwards

to bleed them you i think theres a valve on there that you open and press the brakes until you have fluid come out prefferably a few times to make sure that all the bubbles are out
also open to top of the brake booster where you fill it, some bubbles will come out there too, also thats one sign when bubbles stop coming out that means your close do it on all 4 calipers and you should be good if you still have squishy brakes do it again until you don't
and yes you will need more fluid
and and
be careful around the paint on your car and calipers i'm pretty sure brake fluid takes your paint off easily

Ya youll need new brake fluid. heres a follow up on how to bleed your breaks:

If you dont want to do that just paint your calipers without taking them off. Its very simple IMO.

wow i just read that "how to bleed your brakes"
it sounds like a pain in the ass
so ill just use the tape that came with the caliper paint kit

it's not that bad it's best to have a friend press the brake pedal while your down there
and yeah red should look pretty damn good with your color

red is a great color but its too common on calipers..
when i do mine im thinking of doing blue
