442 is gas cap the 401 is all the stuff I posted earlier, sometimes a gascap will throw both codes ty it first but if you still get 401 (or its the only one your throwing) you need the pressure sensor, egr valve, or vacuum soleniod

To fix it find the leak and replace whats leaking. If it is the filler hose they sale it at autozone and a shop will put it in for about 50-80 bucks depending on my hard of a swap it is
So if in fact it is the filler hose leaking, should i run my car low on fuel before taking it to the shop to get replaced or just keep it at a normal level?

Also, why is it only leaking after i fill it and how does that cause the codes?

uhh just take it normal they will drop the gas tank. And it only leaks when you fill up cause thats the only time it has gas in the hose.

For the codes your EGR valve and EVAP system recirculate unburnt gas fumes in order to give better emissions and gas miliage. If you have a leak somewhere in the system those gas fumes escape which causes you to get not enough pressure and flow to the EGR valve 401, and it notices a leak in the EVAP system 442
