try cleaning your iac valve first also check for vacuum leaks before you go spend a bunch of money

does it only idle fast on startups, once it is up to temp what is the idle rpm? does it fluctuate at all? fast/high idles can be a problem of vac leaks or airflow related sensors. do you have a CEL showing, go to your local autozone and get them to scan it for codes, it is free. they will plug in a handheld and scan via obdII port and tell you a code that you can post here. do you have an aftermarket oilable airfilter, sometimes over oiling will cause MAF issues. you can try looking at your IAC. did you do any recent mods, look over the vac hoses and snoop around the intake manifolds to see if you have a leak in the gaskets?

if the idle fluctuates, you probably have a vaccuum leak somewhere in the intake tract. if it is just high, it could be a bad IAC or a few other sensors. ideal idle for an auto is 900rpms in P or N, and 800 in D or Gear

the IDLE AIR CONTROL valve adjusts the throttle plate at idle. if the spring inside is stuck, has debri in it, gummed up it will cause a varying number of problems. it might not be the iac it could also be a vacuum leak like i already said
