Green On My Leg

so ya know... driving down the road, take a turn and i feel water pouring on my leg. i stop the car and... antifreeze is pouring out of the floor A/C vent all over the carpet and mats. yea...
so it ends up that my heater core sprung a leak after 12 years and leaked the antifreeze into the A/C vents. after it had built up enough, it decieded to slosh out. so we are replacing the heater core and from my research so far, its gunna be a biotch.
pretty much completely tare out the whole dash and oh man... yea

i was wondering if anyone else had worked on their Heater core or if they had done something like it and if so... how bad was it?

i would just take it to a shop, but seeing how they wanted $1000 to just take the instrument cluster out... the labor for this would be rediculas.

has anyone else had this problem w/ a 94 stang?

8 hours and a haynes manual and a few beers can do it. it isnt hard, just tedious to remove the dash. a lot of stangs have the heater core go bad. in fact, it happened to my brother's 96 v6 last year and he changed it with my uncle

Better set aside your weekend to do this. That is unless you are independently wealthy and can pay to have it done.

not hard (just time-consuming), but just takes removing the dash. in fact, if you wanted to take some pictures along the way, this may make for a great futur reference and mainpage article

For future reference... Run the heater once a month for 5 minutes and your heater core will not develop a leak. Up the dosage to once a week and the core will last as long as the car. Stagnated water in the core will cause a hole 10 times quicker than regularly moved water
