Drag question
Well doing a burnout with a stock v6 rearend/wheels hurt my 1/4 times?
Will I get better results if i avoid the water box? I'm wondering if my doing burnouts, some of them being a little too long are what hurt my times in the fall. I ran a 16.1 with a horrible 60' and only dual exhaust as a mod my first time, and it was all slower after that. Not to mention my tires then were horribly bald. I'm wondering if I hadn't done burnouts could my times have been faster? |

5 speed or auto?
The burnout is warming up your tires so they get traction. If you arnt putting that much power to the ground, the burnout may bot be crucial, but I dont believe it would hurt your time. *waits for chris* |

60' would have been dont heat up street tires it will make them slicker, you dont need to do more than a little squeal to get the water off

I'm hoping for gears/tlok and a tuner soon to fix that. Yeah, the 16.1 was my first time ever down a drag strip. I barely spun my wheels, but launched my car hard. But like I said, my tires were damn near bald when I went there. Any tips for racing an auto? I heard lowering the PSI in the rear tires and adding some to the front can help a bit. But I don't expect it to do much more than a .1 second if that. |

lowering tire pressure in the rear will help your best bet is to get a posi you'll learn street tires are the enemy although with bolt ons and posi street tires hold pretty well

My friend is gonna sell me one brand new for $100. Where can i get a set of Ford Racing 4.10 gears? I heard mechanics prefer those for ease of install. And so if I just spin them real quick right out of the water box to just get the water off will i be ok? Ha, I was just waiting for torres to find this thread. He's a lifesaver. |

Avoid the water box altogether if you can.

you dont want water on the tires at all
if can aviod it completely if you cannot a quick spin to shake it off is ok nothing excessive 4.10s will be the same as installing 3.73s or any gear

avoid water box, do the burnout, but only to clean the tires. you don't need excessive burn outs with your application. traction should not be an issue for the most part, but drag radials would help.
t-lok and 4.10:1 ring and pinion set shaved .3 off my e/t and bfg t/a dr2 drag radials shaved another .3 off my e/t. i cut a 2.1x 60' in my auto (4r70w) car and run 14.7 n/a i stay out of the water box and just clean the tires. i dont spin, but i ease into the throttle...
