on a 2002 mustang v6 what is the component that houses the spyder gears called?
i got my traction lock in the mail a while back and my t-lock looks so much like the one sitting inside it already, why is that?

a differential housing.
or "pumkin"

maybe you already has a t lock??

cause the t-lok replaces the one that is already in it.

oh,i just saw somethign that was different, the one in my rear diff right now doesnt have that middle clip in between all the gears.

i dont think mine has that middle clip, what about this piece besides that middle one makes it different from the current one in there?

that clip and those gears inside of it is what makes it keep traction. Thats why its called a traction-lok

that clip is the "Clutch" for the rear end, ever heard of someone burning up there rear end? say a GT driver talkin bout that? what it means is he fried those clutches and they need to be replaced... suggested maintenance on them is 75k-100k

but those clutches is the difference between the T-lok and the open rear end

so if someone wanted a traction lock wouldnt they be able to buy a rebuild kit and just swap out gears and add the clip?

and actually no one has yet to say the correct name
what you have is called a differential case. stock is open diff, the new one you have is limited slip or a posi diff case
