Okie, when I'm done I'll get the car dyno tuned. Why is it essential that I get the intercooler hidden? I mean having it exposed like that just pushes more air through it. I've been driving it around like that for about a week now, and I've been pretty careful not to destroy it.

Anyhow, I FOUND MY TURBO!!! There was a Saab 900 in the yard, an 85. It was the turbo model, so I got excited, then I looked and EVERYTHING is there The manifold, the coolant lines, etc... The turbo fan is spinning fine, so after I finish pulling it, I'll take pictures. It's pretty good condition, I'll show you tomorrow or the day after

Hey wadepertersen, I found some of that shit you were looking for, I've got some good news and bad news, check your PM inbox.

Don't worry Onemanzu , I didn't forget the manifold, I was just being lazy and didn't finish taking it off. It was getting late, and it was snowing. Still, I'm mega stoked about this!

Don't mean to beat it till it's dead, but look at how much I saved!

Now note that so far I have 35 US Dollars invested into this little project so far, and I now have an intercooler, two cold air intakes, aluminum piping, and some (okie, shitty crush bent) exhaust piping. Fittings are free... I've just been pulling fittings that fit off of cars we've been toasting in the crusher.

Heh, I love that quote man, "Any idiot can make a V8 fast, it takes a real idiot to make a fast V6".

that is really really low budget. it will be really interesting to see what kind of power you are putting out with this.

Now this is a good buy
Knowledge is your replacement for money

I'll let you all know what power gains I end up with, I'll get a dyno done. My goal is to twin turbo my 3.8 for a budget even a high schooler could afford. But I always advocate spending time, money, etc... to gain greater knowledge.

Okie, so today I broke down and actually spent some money on new stuff rather than leaching the life out of dead cars. I went to the hardware store and spent ten dollars.

I bought; 2 PVC joints, a coupler, joint glue, and an o clamp. Just little things that will make piping a tad bit easier. That brings my grand total up to 45 dollars and I now have a little more than half the supplies needed to complete this project. However, never forget the price of a Dyno Tune, and if time is money I've spent a pretty penny

Sure, that would be fine, they are stock, right? That way when I write up a guide I don't really have to add them to the cost. Thanks a ton man

Hey man congrats. As far as hiding the intercooler...that is purely cosmetic. Are you looking to use 2 saab 900 turbos, or are you going to get a bigger turbo to go with it for a sequential setup? I want a sequential TT, but keep in mind that they are VERY hard to tune.

I plan on robbing another Saab and doing twin turbos. How do I find the trim size? Measuring tape ?

Edit: Also, note that in my first post I stated that my bottom end will probably have about 138k miles on it by the time I get the turbo setup done. Right now it has about 132K. I rebuilt the top end 7k miles ago.

Sounds good man. Keep us posted on how things are going. I'm curious to see what kind of boost you end up running.

money order, paypal, cash in a birthday card... doesn't matter to me... I will have to find a box and put them in there...

chris, what kinda paint can be used on exhaust systems? like what did you use on your headers? (yes headers did some research and came to the conclusion that your system does infact use headers not manifolds )

Okies, thanks Onemanzu, PM me your address and I'll send you the money.

I got my 65 running today!!! My carb is acting funny so I'll rebuild it on Monday, but anyways, if I get it running good and get it looking street legal I can drive that while I install the turbo kit. And of course there is always the added benefit of driving a classic

After I get my 65 looking slightly presentable I'll take some photos. Then the turbo project can begin.
