Changing The Plugs

I was going to change the plugs and put better wires in my 6. I'm nearing 70,000 miles so I think its probably time. The only problem is that the plugs look like they are in a hard to get at spot. Are they that difficult to reach and change or am I "over"estimating having a problem with it.

Is there any special or specific tool besides the normal extension that would help?

Thanks

the only hard one is the driver rear side one... all the others are cake... just make sure you have a long socket that can reach them and a few extensions and shit

a nice set of Extensions , a universal joit, a spart plug socket and a little patience and you should be good.

That makes me feel a little more confident. I'm not about to pay over $100 for some shop to do it if I can stumble through it myself. So the bitchy one is the close driver side.

Now, what brand should I get. You guys know my minimal mods. Will I have to "gap" them myself or can I trust that out of the box. Also, how do you feel about the more expensive plug wires vs. stock?

if it helps it took me about 40min to get the tools, take my intake tube out, pull the spark plugs gap them, and put them all back in working at a normal/slow pace

its really easy

i'd say a 3/8 wrench
1inch extension and a 3inch extention then a spark plug socket will do the trick

also do it while the engine is cold
and ALWAYS start putting in the spark plug by hand as much as you can
we have aluminum heads and its easy to strip the thread
and its not so easy to rethread due to the location

Is there a better wire to use than the stock? I dont care about having a name brand wire or anything like that but I heard its better to get wires with less resistance? Is there a better set than the rest or is it just a "name" you pay for?

well my msd wires say 40-50 ohms per foot of resistant
high emi supression abilities
tough silicone
blah blah blah

lowest resistance and highest emi supression

msd wires, they say there good (8.5) waiting for new motor to put em on

the thicker the cable the less resistance there is in the cables, i think stock is like wat 7.5 maybe 8mm? so the thicker cables mean less resistance, but unless u also have a better coilpack it wont make a huge difference, i got msd 8.5mm and i like them, but it really isnt a huge difference, they say u dont notice till after u get a new coilpack to put more current through them

id say MSD super conductors
they are great wires and are pretty cheep.

also the thing that will make this job easer is not being muscle bound and having 15 in forearms.
