Removing Old Plug Wires
I am in the process of removing my old spark plug wires and coil pack, and I can't seem to figure out how to get the wire clip between the engine and firewall off. I can only see the part where the wires pass through, but can't see the rest. Anyone know how I can get this off? (I'm almost at the point of just cutting my old wires in half and pulling them out)
And also, I was thinking about running the new wires overtop the intake manifold at the very rear side. Would the intake manifold get too hot to do this? or will it be fine? Thanks. |

I'm having a hard time getting my hand and a screwdriver back there and still being able to see what I am doing. I'll try again after I eat a bit of lunch. Does the intake manifold get hot enough to be bad for the wires over a long period of time?

No, they should be fine if you bought a high performance ignition wire.

There is a plastic wire clip underneath the upper intake manifold. It is pushed onto a stud bolt in the back of the lower intake manifold. It will be much easier to route the wires if you remove the upper intake manifold. I would route them exactly as stock with all the insulators etc. in place. The important thing is that they not touch the exhaust manifolds.

mine are touching and have not melted, or shown any deterioration cause from heat. Im using the JBA powercables.

Okay, I managed to get that rear clip out. Wires and coil pack are in and working fine. Thanks for the help.

I did them 3 or 4 months ago. I probably should have pulled them out and checked how they were doing, but it's too late now. I'll check them when I replace my leaking exhaust manifold in a couple weeks.
