Converting To V8
I have a 2002 v6 auto. Which will be an easier and better conversion 5.0 or 4.6? What are all the parts I need to switch out and make everything work?

+1
That is one heck of a project, You would be hunting down parts forever, The best way would be to buy a cheap wrecked V-8 car to use as a donor for all the parts you will need.

the 4.6 would be easier. everyone around here seems to be 100% against swapping a v8, but if you wanna do it, go for it

unless your hell bent on a 351 or 347 or something nice, then i still say its just so much time and hassle to swap a stock motor into the V6

+1, it'd be a waste of time if you didn't go with something bad ass and unique.

if it were me, i would swap in an older style smally, (302 or 351), punch it, stroke it, whatever you want.........and go carburated..........thats just me, but i wouldnt want to mess with the fuel injection and getting all of that set up right........sure, you will have to do a few things to make a carb work, but its not that bad..........we do the S10 v8 swaps all the time, and its not as bad as it looks. yes, it is NOT a weekend thing, it will take a few months to get everything running right, but its not THAT bad........this isnt your daily driver is it?? lol

ive been debating doing that swap also. But then i realized a turboed or s/ced v6 would be cheaper and would give you more power. Chris told me to do it that way. And explained that swapping to a 5.0 would cost about 5000 after engine, ecu, wiring harness, new radiator, fuel pump, etc. why not just spend that 5k on a supercharger and create 450hp. I always wanted a v8 but im in college and really cant afford spending that kind of loot. thats just me though

. There is no need at all to put one in your DD V6! In fact if I were you I would want to keep that V6 as fuel efficient as possible. When you want to really go fast drive your GT. If your going to do any kind of engine swap...do it to your non DD V8. Many of the engines already mentioned would be a nice upgrade over the 5.0.

I like the idea of economy turbos like the Saabs for the V6. Then you can get as much HP as a GT and still get around 25-30 MPG. Maybe the MPG I mentioned is BS, but my MPG went out the roof after I rebuilt the top end of my car. I plan on turboing it, and from my understanding that will only increase fuel economy.
