how about you drive to your local shop and have the coolant system pressure tested?

it doesn't cost much and you'll fide your leak in a few seconds

i had this same problem and it was the hose connecting the tank to the radiator

when it got hot it built up pressure and blew past the hose

i donno if ford origanally put a hose clamp on it but there wasnt one on mine quick fix

oh and the head gasket thing is true too when mine went it belched coolant but you would know if it was a head gasket due to the performance hit, water in the exhaust, coolant in oil, vice versa

The bleed plug is located in the top front of the engine. It's on a coolant bypass tube that connects between the water pump and the back of the intake manifold. It's a pipe thread plug. When the engine is cooled down you can take the plug out and add coolant either through there or the radiator. If the plug is out it allows coolant to completely fill the system.

Ok so I added coolant with the drain plug open and caught it dripping immediately after from the bottom of the radiator...luckily I have a lifetime warranty on it from auto zone
