exhaust noise

so i just bought a 03 mustang v6 it had some modifications already but i really didnt like the exhaust it has a pypes off road x pipe w/o cats and pypes street pro catback so i took off the catback and put flowmasters sounds way better now but i still want to quiet the exhaust just a bit and i know the x pipe makes a lot of the noise so should i just switch it out with another one or do i just need some cats on the x pipe to make it quieter??? what should it do??

oh yea another thing is i notice a loud screech noise past 3500 rpm i think its the x pipe too im not sure though but i dont like it.

get some cats welded onto the x-pipe and that will quiet down your exhaust

The "screech" in the high rpms isnt going to go away. It's one of the downsides of having a v6.

+1 you need cats. You might also want to consider switch to an H-pipe. that will change your sound too. I have flowmaster 40 deltas. I love the way they sound. They are not too loud(but still loud enough) and they sound great at any RPM.

Cheapest fix: Weld on cats
Smart Fix: H-pipe w/ cats
Fun Fix: 4.2l stroker/cam

Basically you're gonna have to put some cats on there either way, unless youre making some real power.
