v6 mustang vs 4.3 vortec s10

I raced one of my friends the other day on the interstate. He has one of the 4.3 vortec s 10's and I have a 95' v6 Mustang. It was really close but at the end I passed him. We got up to 110. I dont know if he was holding back because I didnt talk to him but I think he had it floored lol. Any thoughts?
Also, what would be a good start for some extra HP. I was thinking about getting some headers, how much would really good headers add and how much would it cost. My car also has alot of miles.
Also, I'm thinking about going turbo for the future. Anything I could get early?

Headers are the most helpful with a full exhaust. The best bang for your buck would be to invest into some gears and a t-lok. Or if your lookin to make this a high hp application just go ahead and get the 8.8" rear end with some steeper gears. I don't know about doing a tune on a 95 though. So I'm gonna let someone with a little more knowledge take the stand on this one.

what car did your friend have? especially for a v6 (im guessing that is stock also) beat it.?

anyway cricket bout nailed it. also a SCT X-CAL is good addition
