OMFG...the 8.8 swap is such a HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS!!!! I'm not saying it is hard to do. I'm saying it is hard as shit to find a used one in good condition. Then of course there is the issue of transporting the damn 250LB beast. I'm going through this right now.

BTW...does anyone have a 99-04 8.8 they don't need?

theres no way they weigh 250lbs thats almost as much as our motor, i've lifted the 7.5 easy with no problems the 8.8 cannot be 250

on a pallet for shipping that is what has been consistently quoted to me as the weight. Of course I haven't lifted one myself...otherwise I would already have one.

That's total BS. the 8.8 rear can handle over 300 RWHP.

oh ok...I see now. The reason is that next year I'm getting a 4.2L stroker from CRT. Then after that I'll be getting a TT setup running around 15-18psi. Those two things alone will put me WAY OVER the tolerance of the 7.5.

Does that answer your question shadow?

yeah that makes sense... its good to get the safety parts now to prepare for future mods but if you dont plan on going over 250 rwhp (give or take) then buying a 8.8 is a waste of money imo

Otherwise, he's right it would have been SOOOOOOOOO much cheaper any easier to just put gears and a t-lok on my 7.5. But that would not be looking to the future very well in my case.

yes, i was unaware of big power plans. Most ppl want an 8.8 to get both tires spinning.

t-lok + 3.73s will get both my wheels spinning fine and for MUCH less than an 8.8

thats just cause of the tlok, so putting a tlock in a 7.5 does the same thing (spinning both tires that is)

yes, i am aware of that. But alot of people look for 8.8s on this site when they do not need it. All they want is both tires to spin.

were just looking for an 8.8 because the junkyard i got downhere sells all of the rear ends for 100% so why get a stock option when you can get an upgrade for the same price. but either way we didnt find one.

all we need is the spyder gears inside of it, so is there anything i could be looking for to just get the spyder gears? i dont care about the traction lock or anything like that, just looking for spyder gears and whatever has them that i could pull them out of. any ideas?
