nope just get the bigger exhaust before you install anything since you need to let the engine breath

a turbo generally makes more and more power as the rpms climb if the turbo is sized correctly

if you lined up a xcharger at 8psi, posi, gears, and even give it exhaust
vs a turbo at 8psi posi and gears(even though stock works well)

in the 1/8mile and 1/4mile i'll have my money on the turbo

you may pay more for a turbo but in the end your really not when you consider other facts like
at first you'll love the s/c at 7psi. whoa cool fun...it gets boring. and turbo guys are making much more then me with less boost. sooooo you $1000 for headers, and exhaust and intake. still wont be ennough get a pulley 10psi...now your already going to start playing with fire here because now your still not making over 360rwhp with that damm s/c. its fun but you want more either way and the next few steps require a blown motor, lots of cash or what more bolt ons?

with a turbo you pay couple hundred more...not more then $1k. if you start at 5-6psi i damm well garuntee that'll keep you trigger happy for a while just like the 7psi s/c only your smoking him. you go to 10psi and your over 380rwhp close to 400rwhp
and your running flat 12s maybe low 12s the s/c guy is maybe running high 12s if the setups are the same(DRs some suspension) 11s vs 12s

with a s/c you'll want exhaust and headers thats already almost the cost if not the cost for getting a turbo(4.0s) and still wont make up for what your losing

IMO you gotta pay to play

look back at the sn95 new edge guys
theres maybe 2-3 s/c guys over 500rwhp and they're running 22psi, 18psi(495rwhp) and or more boost
look at the turbo guys theres a hand ful over 500rwhp. and with what..15psi running 562rwhp!!! or 530rwhp at 15psi. 640rwhp at 17.4psi. now also 610rwhp at 16psi...

thats a very big difference. the more power you run the more power the s/c takes

pipeing is too small you need 3 in for FI and single, it will be cheaper at an exhaust shop anyway

If you are a manual, you should worry about the tranny and have a plan in place for maybe a built t-5 or there is someone working on other alternatives to the t-5 who is close to being done$$$.Clutch as well,is almost a gimme for the power levels of the turbo.

Now,i am not claiming to be an expert, for sure i'm not but the events i have read of give me low confidence for the power ability of our trannies(t-5 only). That worries me even now,a bit.

get a trutrac
spider gears are weak and wont last with your power

trutrac is a much better posi design that uses a different style and way to give both wheels positive traction
it uses sort of like planetary gears. its good for 400+rwtq

i ride one

its actually STRONGER then a stock 8.8
idk about the s197 rears because those have 31spline.
also some good suspension as well
the newer GTs completely shit on the 99-04 GTs
especially for bolt ons its pretty crazy

for a turbo 3.73s would be the absolute HIGHEST i'd go personally. if you can get a hold of 3.27s i'd grab that

and yes a trutrac is much better then a t-lok with spider gears
