o2 sensors

in my quest to fix my terribe gas mileage i have changed...

spark plugs
fuel filter
air filter
tire pressue
cleaned iac
cleaned maf
seafoam in the gas

after all this, im still getting unacceptable mileage compared to what i was getting a little less than a month ago. my driving style and habits are the same a they always where. im thinking my next step to tackle the problem would be my o2 sensors...

however, $200 for all four is not in my budget, i cant do it. im on a high school student salary ftl. i can squeeze $100 for the first two in front of the cats. Is this a good idea. would new plug wires be a good idea first and see if that helps?

56,2xx miles, 13 mpg, no cel, no codes...

It is more than likely your o2s. I was having trouble with mine and it was dumping to much fuel into the engine and I was getting about 9 miles to the gallon.

13MPG OMFG that is bad! Yes you should replace your o2 sensors ASAP. Do them one at a time if you have to, but with gas prices what they are now, it will save you money in the long run.

You can give them a test if you have a volt meter and know a little about cars. I dont think new plug wires will really help much here either.

It is more than likely the o2 sensors. BTW...I don't know what your future plans are, but if you plan on any kind of big power you should get a wideband o2 sensor. Just figured that I'd bring that up since you're gonna be replacing all your sensors anyway.

Yep, '01 v6. You should be getting closer to about 300 miles on a full tank. Im no where near that. I need to clean out filters and such. But the o2 sensors made a HUGE difference.

im staying n/a with basic bolt ons, nothing major. if and when i can afford a nice poweradder, then ill be able to afford a wideband set up

i use to get like 270-300 (depending on how big of a dick i drove like on that tank)... then over a couple days it just went to shit. well that is all the convincing i need, i just want to get back to a decent sustainable mileage. $40 a week on gas is not working so well for my checking account.

well if the wires are bad, then the spark plugs arent going to be doing their job efficiently.

Hey, one thing though. When one of mine was out, it had the CEL on. So I'd make sure before I go off spending $50+ for them...
