If you want a later engine I would think it would be better to put in a 99+ engine. It has split port intake so more power and better head gaskets. I wouldn't think it would be much more trouble.

they used OBDII later in 95 to test it out i believe..then 96 switched to OBDII always....now they got OBDIII

OBD3 is the exact same as OBD2 minus the irregular volt pattern

Some of the later mustangs from 1995 had OBDII(including mine). All 94 mustangs have OBDI. All of the mustangs in 96-04 have OBDII. I'm not sure about the s197s. I waws also wondering why this swap was done. It doesn't seem to make much sense to swap an engine for one with only 10 more crank HP.

And yes 97 was when they introduced the PATS.

the ecm ... also it needs to be calibrated to the car ... that way it doesn't have any PATS trouble
