94 TO 96 Engine swap

he guys im picking up a 94 sixer that has had a 96 3.8 put in it but can get spark. he used the 96 harness but used the 94 ecm. what needs to be changed to get it to fire? thanks

you probaly need to switch to the 96 ecm because in 96 they used the obdII vs. 94 when they used the obdI

thats what i was thinking but wasnt sure if the pinouts were the same for the harness

if yur using a 96 engine you need the 96 harness, etc.

Where does the obd port hook up to the ecm or on the harness under the dash.

yea definately go with OBD2 dont even think about going to OBD...haha...i know kuz i have OBD

I just thought it was odd that it now has a no spark problem after the swap. i didnt do it so im not sure on everything.

you need OBD2 system or the car can data log

it wont run without it, it it what lets the engine make adjustments to itself

actually, didnt they use OBDII and OBDI in 94. I thought they switched halfway through the year. I could be wrong.

OBDII was started in 95??

OBDII was started in 96 for domestic cars.....

and my 96 GT has PATS
