There is a drain plug in the convertor. There is a rubber plug on the bottom of the trans bell housing that you remove to access it. The engine has to be turned to get the plug where you can get to it.

The rest of the fluid is drained by removing the oil pan from the transmission.

It will take at least 10 qts of fluid to refill the trans/torque convertor.

what do you mean by the engine has to be turned? Im only asking cause im debating to do a regular tranny flush or have a machine such all the junk out. I was told if there is a plug in the pan AND in the converter, a basic flush would be fine.

By draining both the transmission and convertor, you will replace most of the fluid, so that should be adequate.

The engine needs to be turned to remove the torque convertor drain plug, which is accessed through a hole in the bottom of the bell housing, after removing a rubber plug. In other words you need to turn the engine till the drain plug lines up with the access hole.

And how would i go about turning my engine? Basically it seems that it will be easier to just have a machine suck out all the junk, rather than drain the converter.

Just use a socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt.

It may well be easier to have it flushed by a shop.
