2001 Accelerates Rough, Makes A Popping Noise

My 2001 v6 sputters and makes a clattering noise when I try to accelerate. And it'll make a wierd pop noise that sounds like it's coming from the middle or rear of the car and not the engine. It kinda sounds like something is hitting something under the car.

When I accel really slowly, it doesn't seem to do it as severly.

I did some research myself and figured it could be the fuel filter, I changed it (it was really dirty btw) but nothing has changed.

Could it be anything to do with my transmission or clutch? Or is my engine just still dirty from the bad fuel filter?

66k miles. it seems that it only does it when the RMPs are low, like under 1.5k and accelerating. Once I'm up closer to 2k it run fine.

if you can weld...free. if not my dad knew someone that did mine for nothing...it isnt a hard job

but i dont think its an exhaust leak if it stops after 2k rpms. i have 3 exhaust leaks, an exhaust manifold leak and 2 exhaust leaks, the sound is noticable when ever you hit the gas a little

I'll have to make a trip to my uncle's shop and get it up on a lift to see if i can find a leak. If not, I'll bring it to my mechanic.

ive got 1 rigth after my muffler and it stopped after 2k?? and all i did since it was a small leak was buy 1 of those pipe repairs from advance auto parts and patch it up.. after you put that last coat of glue they give you it became hard and the noise stopped. problem solved but then again lol i knew what my problem was. good luck!
