Miss fire

i have a 01 v6....the other day i was running my car down the road wen it started to miss so bad that the check engine light was blinking... i replace the plugs, put on new MSD 8.5MM wires and a new fuel filter... it after this was replaced and exhaust leak came up on the driver side of the exhaust manifold... so i took it to a shop n they said the diagnostic said it had a miss on cylenders 1-6 so they told me to replace the coil pack... if that dont work then replace the modulator under the coil pack n if that still dont work replace the crank censor... its a steady miss but the car runs a hell of alot faster now that i replaced the plugs wires n filter... wat should i fix next??? n is their any performance coils i can buy?

blinking light = random misfire.

What plugs are you using?

A lot of things could be wrong, but replacing the coil and crank angle sensor is reasonable.

You might get other opinions, but I doubt it's worth it. There is plenty of voltage to fire the plugs with a stock coil.

Are you saying cylinders 1 and 6 have a misfire or all 6 cylinders (1-6) have a misfire? The pairs per coil, unless I'm mistaken, are 1 and 5, 2 and 6, and 4 and 3. Thus, it seems unlikely the coil is the problem, since I would expect only one of the three coil sections to fail.

I would think it could be narrowed down by determining which cylinders have spark. If one of the pairs above is bad it's the coil. If they are all weak, I would expect something other than the coil, perhaps the crank angle sensor. If the spark is good on all cylinders, then it may be fuel related, such as a clogged injector as someone mentioned.

Is it possible you got some water in the gas?

That seems unlikely to be the coil, since 1 and 6 are next to each other in the firing order, and thus come from different sections of the coil pack.

I would try an inductive pickup timing light on each plug wire in turn and see if any fails to trigger the light.
