It isnt the light that will get you. It is a machine that tests to see how much smog your car is emitting. Thats what the cats eliminate. Many refer to it as the "sniffer" haha. If you have to pass emissions, go with high flow cats.

I don't know im curious myself. It says on the air team website that all the computer does is check for emission related codes in the OBD. I would say try it, save the stocker and if you fail just put it back on for the tests, if you don't fail get rid of the stocker. BTW what part of IL you from?

Heres a good read. Illinois emissions test - Page 3 - Corvette Forum Looks like with a tune you should be okay. I'm from cook county myself and I want to find a way around this eventually myself. Lemme know what you decide to do.

emissions testing is part of your inspection where they test the emissions coming from your exhaust

At least in Calif. it's against the law to remove a catalytic convertor from a car.
If one is removed because it's defective, paperwork has to be submitted justifying the replacement, and the old one has to be retained for a period of time, in case it needs to be inspected to confirm the reason for removing it. I don't think it is a good idea to remove the convertors. |
