Blown Gasket... I Think

Okay so i have an interesting story... but im goning to start with the problem. my car(97 v6 5 speed) is leaking oil. and im not sure why or where exactley it is coming from but it is leaking it something feirce.

The cause of this is rather odd... I blew the heater core hose in my car right behind the distributor cap, and limped the car home, which was only two small blocks. my car then sat for a week as i fixed the problem and now it is up and running again. As soon as i started driving it agian i noticed that oil leaks were showing up in my drive way. Any ideas at all?

Also where could i get the parts to fix this problem?

my 94 blew the head gasket, although im far from an expert, wouldnt it have flooded the cylinder with antifreeze, especially after a week of sitting? did it start alright after u fixed it?

if you get Hayes manual at like autozone or w/e, it gives step by step real easy instruction. i dont remember well enough to type it to ya, lol, but i dont remember that being very difficult, now getting to the covers was tricky and all the stuff you have to pull off to get there, but really not tooo bad

to my knowledge you cant get a hole in a gasket...the only reasonable thing i can think of is if you have changed the gasket you might have broke it or you didnt tighten it tight enough or it might not be sealing right......and to the person asking about the oil leak.....it could be many reasons why you could be leaking oil you could have a bad head gasket, oil pan gasket, or main seal...but if your noticeing that water is coming out of your tail pipe then its a head gasket but for the other ones you have to just check

definatly check the bottom of the timing cover ford v6's had a lot of problems with proper sealing on the timing cover
also you can get some oil dye from an auto parts store and check it after 500 miles

if you got a blown head gasket you will have white smoke coming out of the tail pipe. to find the oil leak follow it up from the bottom where it is dripping until you find the highest point. hope it is the valve cover for your sake lol

change the oil and see if you have coolant in it, should come out first, but if it is a bad leak it will be milky looking. valve cover leaking is common, so is rear main, but as advised would browse the haynes manual or look here for a general overview first to see what you are getting into and what parts you will need, can get all the gaskets and fluids at your local autozone or advanceautoparts. is your coolant level getting low?

Is your car overheating by chance? You wont neccesarily see white smoke with a blown head gasket. i know this because i had a blown head gasket and their was no visible white smoke out the tailpipe. Engine overheated every time the car ran more then about 5 mins and then coolant kept disapearing and spilling into the overflow tank.
