welcome to the forums. So you took the entire system off so it was breathing right from the throttle body? Or you took it off from the MAF forward?

That's interesting. You have disabled the MAF sensor and it runs.

I can imagine it could run at idle that way, since the throttle body is closed and the air bleed valve is controlling the idle speed/mixture. It should die if you open the throttle body.

My guess is you have somehow damaged the MAF sensor.

nothings on unless the light is out or something...could that be why its sluggish on take off and tries to die and everything? Because of the MAF?

I don't understand how it can even run that way, at least above idle!

The MAF is supposed to measure how much air is going in the intake and adjust the amount of fuel from the injectors to keep the mixture right. If the MAF is damaged it could make the engine sluggish since it wouldn't get the right amount of fuel.

I think a new one would be around $100, maybe less.

I looked into this some yesterday.

If the MAF is disconnected, the computer goes into a mode where it generates a MAF signal from the engine RPM and throttle position. So the car should still run with the intake out.
