Turbo?

A friend of mine who knows quite a bit about cars, trucks, bikes, tractors and all that stuff said about something I've never really heard of.

He couldn't remember what it was called exactly but said it is like a turbo except dealing w/ exhaust. Somewhere around like 40 horse gain and not nearly as much as a turbo kit. I had no idea what he was talking about so i thought i'd ask u guys and see if such a thing exists and if so...how much for one?

ummmmmm a turbo uses the exhaust to spin a turbine that then compresses air into the engine. other than that id say hes fully of shit... IMO

Yeah i know that a turbo ran off the exhaust in which i tried to explain that and he said something along the lines of "i know i know. Its not a regular turbo but something that works off the exhaust like a turbo and gives ya a lot of HP for the money. Its much cheaper than a turbo too"

So idk if that helps or not haha

maybe its a turbonator that goes on the headers and pulls the exhaust out faster?

that was a joke the turbonator is a scam, he might be talking about a supercharger, but it dont run off exhaust and it isnt a lot cheaper, but it makes power on the same principle

If he/you mean a turbonator as in a Tornado POS, then i wasn't aware they were synonomous...sorry bout that. I know they suck, i just wasn't aware thats what he meant. No, superchargers run off pulleys and also about $4500 + or - a few hundred. I know he dint mean that, cuz damn...if i had that money, one would have been in my car by now haha

i think he is full of shit to put it politely

the only performance product that runs off exhaust and gives power is a turbo

My friend might have actually been talking about a remote mounted turbo. It's relocated away from under the hood to reduce temps. My guess is he heard something about it and dint get the full concept and decided to recommend it for whatever reason?
